SpinFire Professional Support

Note: These instructions are for installing the floating license configuration to be used with SpinFire Professional Build 818 or later. If you would like to install or update a floating license configuration to work with earlier versions of SpinFire Professional, see Floating License Installation (SpinFire Pro Build 814 or Earlier). Please note that you cannot have SpinFire Professional seats running under different floating license configurations on the same network.

Determine the build number from the SpinFire Professional menu bar by selecting Help > About.

About Floating Licenses

Floating Licenses allow multiple users on a network to access SpinFire Professional. A Floating License Server is required to allocate and keep track of the Floating Licenses.

The number of network users allowed to access SpinFire Professional at one time will be equivalent to the number of floating license seats that have been purchased.

Note: These instructions are for installing the floating license configuration to be used with SpinFire Professional Build 818 or later. If you would like to install or update a floating license configuration to work with earlier versions of SpinFire Professional, see Floating License Installation (SpinFire Pro Build 814 or Earlier). Please note that you cannot have SpinFire Professional seats running under different floating license configurations on the same network. Determine the build number from the SpinFire Professional menu bar by selecting Help > About.

  1. Download and install SFFloatingInst_840.exe on a computer on your network, and note the destination folder you install in.

    Note: If upgrading an older version of the Floating License Server, install on the same computer where your current Floating License Server is installed.

  2. Copy the sfpflv2.dat file into the folder where the Floating License Server is installed, overwriting any versions of those files that may currently be located there. (Default location: C:\Program Files\Actify\Floating License Manager\ )
  3. Reboot the computer running the Floating License Server.
  4. Update each floating client on the network:
    1. Install SpinFire Professional, if it has not been installed already.
    2. If running SpinFire Professional 2004v2 Build 845 or earlier, copy the sfpflv2.dat file to the kernel folder. (Default location: C:\Program Files\Actify\Kernel\ )


    3. Note: SpinFire Pro 8.0 Build 1015 or later automatically installs the sfpflv2.dat file in the kernel folder on startup.
    4. Restart SpinFire Professional.
    5. Use the Seat ID to activate SpinFire Professional, if it has not been activated already.
